Conditions of Membership

  • The manufacturer must be registered with a Furniture Manufacturing Industry Bargaining Council.
  • Membership is subject to approval by the SAFI Executive Committee , who may request additional information.
  • SAFI reserves the right to terminate a Membership.

Associate Membership Definition

Associate Members are:

  • Businesses that supply raw materials and other assets to the furniture manufacturing industry.
  • Businesses that provide services to the furniture manufacturing industry.
  • Retailers.
  • Other parties having an interest in the furniture manufacturing industry.

Section A: General Website Acceptable Use Policy

The Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") outlines the rules and guidelines governing the usage of the General Front-End, public portion of the South African Furniture Initiative's (SAFI) website, Business Directory, Employment Portal and Tender Bulletin. By accessing and using these portions of the website, users agree to comply with the following terms:

1. Purpose of Use: The general front-end of the SAFI website is intended for informational purposes, providing users with insights into the furniture industry. Users are expected to engage with the content responsibly and refrain from activities that may disrupt or impair the website's functionality.

2. Intellectual Property: All content, including text, images, and multimedia, on the general front-end is the intellectual property of SAFI. Users are prohibited from reproducing, distributing, or modifying any content without explicit consent.

3. Prohibited Conduct: Users shall not engage in activities that could compromise the security, integrity, or availability of the general front-end. This includes but is not limited to hacking, unauthorised access, and any behaviour that violates applicable laws and regulations.

4. User Content: Users bear sole responsibility for the content they submit, ensuring it does not infringe on any intellectual property rights, contain false information, or violate any applicable laws or regulations. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove content that breaches these guidelines.

5. User Contributions: Users may contribute comments or feedback on designated sections. All contributions must be respectful, non-defamatory, and comply with applicable laws. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove inappropriate content.

6. Third-Party Links: SAFI may provide links to third-party websites for additional information. Users are advised to review and comply with the acceptable use policies of those third-party sites.

7. Compliance with Laws: Users must adhere to all relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations while using the general front-end of the SAFI website.

8. Reporting Violations: Users are encouraged to report any observed violations of this Policy through the designated channels provided by SAFI.

9. Security Measures: Users must not attempt to circumvent security features, access restricted areas without authorisation, or participate in activities that could compromise the integrity of the website or the privacy of other users.

10. Termination: SAFI retains the right to terminate user access at its discretion for breaches of this Policy. Users are advised to regularly review the Policy for updates.

Section B: Business Directory Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose of Use: The Business Directory is designed for businesses, suppliers, manufacturers, and professionals to showcase their profiles. Users are expected to use this platform responsibly, providing accurate and relevant information.

2. User Profiles: Users are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented in their profiles. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove content that is inaccurate, misleading, or violates any applicable laws.

3. Search and Connect Responsibly: Users must utilise the Business Directory's search and connection features responsibly, respecting the privacy and confidentiality of other users. Connecting with other users should be done for legitimate business purposes.

4. Prohibited Conduct: Users shall not engage in any activities that could harm the integrity of the Business Directory, including but not limited to fraudulent activities, data scraping, or attempts to access restricted areas without authorisation.

5. Reviews and Ratings: Users providing reviews and ratings must do so responsibly and honestly. False or misleading reviews are strictly prohibited. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove inappropriate content.

6. Intellectual Property: Users are prohibited from using images, logos, or other intellectual property belonging to others without explicit consent.

7. Compliance with Laws: Users must adhere to all relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations while using the Business Directory on the SAFI website.

8. Reporting Violations: Users are encouraged to report any observed violations of this Policy through the designated channels provided by SAFI.

9. Termination: SAFI retains the right to terminate user access to the Business Directory at its discretion for breaches of this Policy. Users are advised to regularly review the Policy for updates.

By utilising the Business Directory on the SAFI website, users acknowledge and agree to adhere to this Acceptable Use Policy. SAFI reserves the right to modify these terms at any time, with updates being effective upon publication.


Section C: Employment Portal Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose of Use: The Employment Portal serves as a platform for connecting employers and job seekers within the South African furniture industry. Users are expected to use this portal responsibly for career development and recruitment purposes.

2. Job Postings and Applications: Employers posting job opportunities are responsible for providing accurate and detailed information. Job seekers must submit truthful and complete applications. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove content that violates any applicable laws.

3. User Profiles: Users are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented in their profiles. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove content that is inaccurate, misleading, or violates any applicable laws.

4. Prohibited Conduct: Users shall not engage in any activities that could harm the integrity of the Employment Portal, including but not limited to fraudulent activities, data scraping, or attempts to access restricted areas without authorisation.

5. Equal Employment Opportunity: Employers are expected to adhere to equal employment opportunity principles and avoid discriminatory practices. SAFI does not endorse or tolerate discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or any other protected category.

6. Confidentiality: Job seekers and employers must respect the confidentiality of information shared during the recruitment process. Unauthorised sharing of sensitive information is strictly prohibited.

7. Compliance with Laws: Users must adhere to all relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations while using the Employment Portal on the SAFI website.

8. Reporting Violations: Users are encouraged to report any observed violations of this Policy through the designated channels provided by SAFI.

9. Termination: SAFI retains the right to terminate user access to the Employment Portal at its discretion for breaches of this Policy. Users are advised to regularly review the Policy for updates.

Section D: Tender Bulletin Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose of Use: The Tender Bulletin serves as a centralised platform to aggregate and present government tenders relevant to the South African furniture industry. Users are expected to use this platform responsibly for accessing and bidding on tenders.

2. Tenders and Submissions: Contractors submitting tenders must do so truthfully and in accordance with the specified requirements. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove content that violates any applicable laws.

3. User Profiles: Users are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented in their profiles. SAFI reserves the right to moderate and remove content that is inaccurate, misleading, or violates any applicable laws.

4. Prohibited Conduct: Users shall not engage in any activities that could harm the integrity of the Tender Bulletin, including but not limited to fraudulent activities, data scraping, or attempts to access restricted areas without authorisation.

5. Equal Access to Opportunities: The Tender Bulletin aims to provide equal access to tender opportunities for businesses of all sizes and backgrounds. Discrimination in the procurement process based on size, ownership, or any other protected category is strictly prohibited.

6. Confidentiality: Contractors and entities posting tenders must respect the confidentiality of information shared during the tendering process. Unauthorised sharing of sensitive information is strictly prohibited.

7. Verification of Tender Information: Users are explicitly informed that the Tender Bulletin acts as an aggregator and will always refer users to the original website where the tender information is published. SAFI cannot be held responsible for incorrect tender information, and users are solely responsible for the verification of all information before engaging in any tender submissions.

8. Third-Party Websites: The Tender Bulletin may provide links to third-party websites where the original tender information is published. Users are advised to verify information on these external sites and adhere to any acceptable use policies they may have.

9. Compliance with Laws: Users must adhere to all relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations while using the Tender Bulletin on the SAFI website.

10. Reporting Violations: Users are encouraged to report any observed violations of this Policy through the designated channels provided by SAFI.

11. Termination: SAFI retains the right to terminate user access to the Tender Bulletin at its discretion for breaches of this Policy. Users are advised to regularly review the Policy for updates.

12. Information Aggregation and Publication: SAFI explicitly clarifies that it solely acts as an aggregator and publisher of information on the Tender Bulletin. No offers are made by SAFI, and no specific representations are made regarding the accuracy, completeness, or authenticity of the tender information presented. Users acknowledge that SAFI functions as an intermediary platform, referring users to the original websites where tender information is published. Any decisions or actions taken by users based on the information provided in the Tender Bulletin are at their own discretion and risk. SAFI disclaims any liability for inaccuracies, errors, or discrepancies in the tender information and emphasises the user's responsibility to independently verify all details before engaging in any tender submissions.
